In honor of my new Home on the web, and my milestone of 100 posts, I thought I’d re-introduce myself to the world. First off, I used to post at http://3princessesmomma.blogspot.com and it has served me well since January. But, I’ve outgrown the space and capabilities of Blogger’s platform. (Bring on the threaded comments!) Welcome to 3Princessesmomma.com. I hope to be here quite a long while.
A little (lot?) about me:
I’m a 32 year old mother of three and acquired mother of 3 (I hate the word stepmother.) I work in IT, but my heart and soul are in Household Finance. I’ve always had a passion for numbers and really wanted to be an accountant, although my lack of interest in obtaining a bachelor’s degree made that dream a little beyond my reach. One day, Mark (my DH) taught me the skill that will forever be the bane of his existance… Excel Spreadsheets.
I started off small, building a small household budget. Before we knew it, I had an 8 page spreadsheet with 80 variables and tons of calculations detailing our income and expenditures through 2012, including a self adjusting sheet for debt reduction that I edited 4 times a day with myriad variables. I researched budgeting, personal finance, retirement, savings accounts, investments, and a million other things related to finance from every source I could. Then, I took what I learned and incorporated the assumptions into my spreadsheets.
Before Mark could have me put into Excel detox, I stumbled across something new and shiny … personal finance blogging. A friend of a friend had Get Rich Slowly as a feed on her friend list on Livejournal. Seeing only one post, I subscribed to his feed. A bit at a time, I went back and read JD’s most famous post and then link surfed around the net from his hundreds of entries. I found Frugal Dad and Moolanomy and Paid Twice and Being Frugal… and I was hooked.
I wanted to be a part of this community of bloggers that was so inspiring and shared to much information with everyone. I’ve learned so much since I stumbled across Get Rich Slowly more than 6 months ago… about our finances, and about finances in general. I discovered my passion for sharing what I learned and am incorporating it into a real business helping people get their household finances on solid footing.
So, if you want to get to know us a bit better, or like what you’ve read, or just want to see what kind of odd things I’m going to write about, stick around. Subscribe to the RSS feed. Feel free to comment! I’m glad you’re here.
One last note: The site will be undergoing changes here and there. Afterall, I have to get the curtains put up
so bear with me while I get it the new home decorated!
