Recently, I finished a project that has consumed the last 4 months of my life. Momma’s Coupon Management System has filled every waking moment that hasn’t revolved around work, family, and PTA. It has invaded my dreams and every conversation I’ve had. I’ve listed it on Made It Myself (NEW BETA… check it out!), gave one away as a prize to Michele P. (HOPE YOU LOVE IT!), and mailed one to Clark Howard. When I sealed the packages and attached the postage on my Completed Product, I sat very quietly for a few moments. It was an eerie feeling, not having something that required my attention.

Do I jump into the next project? Wait a while and take a rest? Set new goals? Re-evaluate the old ones? For me, I think the answer is… YES! But not exactly in that order.
First, I’m taking a rest. Tomorrow, I’m going to catch up on the 290 unread entries in my feed reader, leave the comments I’ve been dying to leave, PLURK my heart out. I may even take a lunch away from my desk!
Second, I’m going to brainstorm a whole list of new blog entries. I’ve already got a list, but I’ve gotten down to the end of it. It’s time for some fresh ideas!
Third, I’m going to re-evaluate my previous goals and do status checks on them. I’ll let the ones that don’t matter fall to the side, and refine the ones that are still important to me and my family. I may even make some of the new goals appropriate for bite sized pieces (yea, probably not…)

What do you do when you’ve achieved a major goal? How much time do you take to recover? How do you keep your momentum going and not get lazy when that amazing feeling of accomplishment sets in? Want to see an article on a particular subject? Do you have a fabulous guest post that I can share for you? I’d love to hear what you think.

How about “10 things you can do on a Saturday night with your family for less than 40 bucks?”
Or “How to have (or be) a cheap date?”

Well.. when I generally accomplish a goal I reward myself for a small treat.
If I have another pressing goal that needs to be achieved, I would follow through immediately. Otherwise, I will take some time to relax and enjoy before going ahead.

Shamelle, thanks for the comment.
I think it sounds like you have a balanced system for goals.
I’m glad you shared.
