Name Brand Versus Generic

by Momma · 0 comments

I learned an expensive lesson over the last week. Some Store Brands are NOT as good as Name Brands. Growing up in a house that only used Dollar General Store brand toilet paper, I learned fairly early that there were SOME generics that just didn’t stack up.

This week, I learned a whole new lesson. Kroger brand Freezer Bags SUCK! I had one box of Ziploc Brand Freezer Bags that I put pumpkin puree in. When I ran out, I switched to the box of Kroger Brand Freezer Bags. I have thawed 3 bags of pumpkin stored in the Kroger bags, and all of them were spoiled (tasted and smelled like vinegar) when thawed. I have thawed 2 bags of the pumpkin stored in the Ziploc Brand bags and the thawed pumpkin tastes just as fresh and sweet as the day I put them in the freezer.

I’m officially throwing away over a gallon of pumpkin puree (1/2 of the pumpkin) that cost me, not only hours of my time, but $17 in organic pumpkin and $1.99 in sub-par freezer bags.
