Last week, I received My Little Girl by Tim McGraw & Tom Douglas in the mail to review. The artwork was whimsical and perfectly suited to the target audience.
The story was short enough to keep smaller children entertained without getting bored, but could have used a little more substance and detail.
Our family is a blended family, and the daughter I shared this with (YL10) hasn’t seen her father in a year and a half, so the book was a little difficult for me to read without tearing up. I’m glad I read it alone in my room before deciding to share it with her.
YL10 read it to Mark and thoroughly enjoyed both the time with him and the book itself. She begged to keep the book and not give it away to a reader here (sorry!), and even asked to take it to Kentucky this Christmas and read it to her daddy. I’d say that means more than my review ever will.
Score one for stealing little girls’ hearts away with this book (just as much as he stole their mommas’ hearts with his music) for Tim McGraw.
