Last night was the PTSA meeting, Chorus performance,(POLLYWOG HAD A SOLO AND DID GREAT!!!!!!! Ok, proud mommy outburst over and you can return to your regularly scheduled article.) and Thanksgiving Dinner at Pollywog’s middle school. I was happy to see so many people in attendance, but saddened by the fact that the PTA/PTSA has to put our kids on stage before we make time to walk through the doors.
I wish for more time to volunteer in the school. I want to help out in the classrooms or in the parent resource center. I could totally rock at helping teach other parents how to use the computer, find stuff on the internet, or any of a dozen other things I know how to do. But, like just about everyone else, I have this day job that starts before school and ends after school is out.
During the meeting last night, I started wondering what I could help out without being at the school during business hours. Among other things, I can write, research, and use Microsoft Office programs pretty well. So, after running it past Mark (who does a pretty good job at telling me when I’m getting ready to over-extend myself), I offered to put together a monthly newsletter for the PTSA and perhaps teach a class or two on frugal living.
All of those things take time though… and I’m a strike-while-the-iron-is-hot kinda girl. So, to kick off my off-site volunteer efforts (and help out all of my homeschooling and teacher friends) I compiled a list of websites that offer free resources for Teachers, Administrators, Parents and even Students. Please help me help others by sharing this post with the teachers and parents, homeschooling or otherwise, you know who could use them. And, if you can, add to this list in the comments.
